An astronaut in the satellite moving around the earth is travelling at the orbital velocity of the satellite. When the package is released from it, the speed of package will be equal to the speed of satellite due to inertia. The orbit of satellite is independent of its mass so the package will continue to follow the motion of the satellite. Hence, the package will not fall on the earth and will continue revolving around the earth along with the satellite.
